an egg a day may prevent macular degeneration
due to the carotenoid content, specifically lutein and
zeaxanthin.
2. Researchers found that people who eat eggs
every day lower their risk of developing cataracts,
also because of the lutein and zeaxanthin in eggs.
3. One egg contains 6 grams of high-quality protein
and all 9 essential amino acids.
4. According to a study by the Harvard School of
Public Health, regular consumption of eggs may help
prevent blood clots, stroke, and heart attacks.
5. Eggs are a good source of choline. One egg yolk
has about 300 micrograms of choline. Choline is an
important nutrient that helps regulate the brain,
nervous system, and cardiovascular system.
6. They contain the right kind of fat. One egg
contains just 5 grams of fat and only 1.5 grams of
that is saturated fat.
7. New research and recent studies have shown that
regular consumption of two eggs per day does not
affect a person’s lipid profile and may, in fact,
improve it. Research suggests that it is saturated fat
that raises cholesterol rather than dietary
cholesterol.
8. Eggs are one of the only foods that contain
naturally occurring vitamin D.
9. Eggs may prevent breast cancer. A study says,
women who consumed at least 6 eggs per week
lowered their risk of breast cancer by 44%.
10. Eggs promote healthy hair and nails because of
their high sulfur content and wide array of vitamins
and minerals. Many people find their hair growing
faster after adding eggs to their diet, especially if they
were previously deficient in foods containing sulfur
or B12.

Doctor pulls 13cm live worm from man's eye in India

A 13-centimetre long worm that was surgically removed from a patient's eye in Mumbai is seen on June 29. A doctor in India pulled the live worm from the eye of an elderly patient who was complaining of persistent pain in an operation reminiscent of a far-fetched alien movie plot.

The specialist removed the 13-centimetre (five-inch) worm by making a small opening in the conjunctiva -- a 15-minute operation that was observed by the patient's horrified wife, Saraswati.

"It just kept moving and jumping; it was scary for a bit," she told the Mumbai Mirror.

"The short answer is that time travel into the future is not only possible, it's been done, and we've known about it for over a century," says Davies. "The reason that the public doesn’t seem to know about it is because the amount of time travel involved is so pitifully small that it doesn't make for a 'Doctor Who' style adventure."

A phenomenon called time dilation is the key here. Time passes more slowly the closer you approach the speed of light -- an unbreakable cosmic speed limit. As such, the hands of a clock in a speeding train would move more slowly than those in a stationary clock. The difference would not be humanly noticeable, but when the train pulled back into the station, the two clocks would be off by billionths of a second. If such a train could attain 99.999 percent light speed, only 1 year would pass onboard for every 223 years back at the train station.


But speed isn't the only factor that affects time. On a much smaller scale, mass also influences time. Time slows down the closer you are to the center of a massive object.

"Time runs a little bit faster in space than it does down on Earth," Davies says. "It runs a little faster on the roof than it does in the basement, and that's a measurable effect."

A clock aboard an orbiting satellite experiences time dilation due to both the speed of its orbit and its greater distance from the center of Earth's gravity.
